Internship opportunities at Vidéographe

Vidéographe is a non-profit center that focuses on the creation, research, and development of independent media arts, offering services in the production, distribution, and promotion of independent videographic works.

Internships are available in several of the center’s departments, including :

  • Communications
  • Conservation
  • Distribution,
  • and Technical

It is also possible to intern in more than one of these departments simultaneously, depending on your interests and profile.

► Internship in communications

The communications intern works under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager. This work experience will enable the intern to contribute to the promotion of Vidéographe’s works and activities to targeted audiences.

Job description:

  • Select, prepare, write and design various materials to promote the center’s activities, in compliance with Videographe’s graphic guidelines.
  • Update the website
  • Animate social media networks: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Ensure relations with the media
  • Participate in the internal working group on communications and philanthropy.

 

Profile required:

  • University degree in film, media arts, communications or other field
  • Experience in project coordination;
  • Excellent synthesis and writing skills;
  • Knowledge of software and applications: WordPress, Mailchimp, Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator;
  • Familiarity with social media networks
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
  • Interest in independent media arts in Quebec and Canada;
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team;
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills, autonomy, initiative, and interpersonal skills.

► Internship in conservation

The conservation intern works under the direct supervision of the Curatorial Assistant. This work experience will enable the intern to contribute to updating the collection by classifying and referencing works.

Job description

  • Create and update descriptive sheets for works in the catalog
  • Data processing and integration on web platforms
  • Updating databases
  • Support for publications and online programming projects
  • Research and viewing in support of the curatorial team

 

Profile required:

  • University degree in film, media arts, museology/art history or other related field
  • Experience in project coordination
  • Good synthesis and writing skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of databases and Web environments.
  • Organizational skills, autonomy, initiative, and interpersonal skills.

► Intership in distribution

The distribution intern works under the direct supervision of the Sales and Festival Manager in the distribution department. This work experience will enable the intern to participate in the development of marketing strategies to help distribute works from Vidéographe’s collection in Quebec and abroad.

Job description:

  • Prepare submissions for festivals
  • Participate in the development of targeted markets
  • Submit works to festivals and events
  • Follow up on market plans
  • Collect video and promotional material from artists
  • Transport video and promotional material to events
  • Create and modify files on a new database
  • View new acquisitions
  • Perform any other related tasks

 

Profile required:

  • University degree in film, media arts, communications or other related field;
  • A willingness to evaluate and appraise independent videographic works in all their diversity of genres and artistic characteristics;
  • Strong writing skills in French and English (an asset);
  • Organizational skills, autonomy, and initiative;
  • Willingness to integrate databases, Web environments, social networks and e-commerce

► Internship in the technical department

The intern in the technical department works under the direct supervision of the Technical Coordinator. This work experience will enable the intern to understand the workings of an artist-run center, prioritize tasks and broaden his/her technical knowledge according to the center’s specific needs.

Job description

  • Video editing for Vidéographe’s internal and external needs
  • Encode works in various formats for delivery
  • Delivery in coordination with distribution
  • Assist in the preparation of editing rooms
  • Support equipment rental and maintenance
  • Provide technical support for the center’s various activities (collection, distribution, training, production, programming)
  • Digitize works in the collection
  • Contribute to the installation and dismantling of installations and projections

 

Profile required:

  • University degree in film, media arts, communications or related fields;
  • Knowledge and technical interest in video editing, related formats and equipment
  • Proficiency with Premiere Pro and Davinci an asset
  • Resourceful and solution-oriented
  • Organizational skills, autonomy and initiative
