Vidéographe is pleased to invite François Miron, director of the recent documentary Paul Sharits, to present his work on celluloid film as well as the influences and references that has been shaping his art practice over the last 30 years.

The programme, developed by François Miron, includes a selection of his films produced in 16mm in the late 80s and 90s. Miron’s formal works explore complex technical effects that were created on film using an optical printer and an animation bench. This programme examines the artist’s meticulous approach to image-making that was developed before the proliferation of digital tools.

François Miron Miron began makings films in 1982, working exclusively with film emulsion. The body of his early work consists of several short experimental films all created using a powerful film image manipulation technique that he has mastered: optical printing. All of his films have screened in festivals and various venues throughout the world, his work receiving numerous awards and true underground acclaim filmgrafix.com
