11 films distributed by Vidéographe
at the 36th Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma: video, dance and experimental

February 21 - March 3, 2018

Vidéographe is proud to announce the presence of 10 short films and one feature documentary that we distribute at the 36th Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma which will take place from February 21 to March 3, 2018.

As a World Première, Seven Wonders of the World, by the photographer and filmmaker Donigan Cumming, is an uncompromising portrait of a disparition.

À tes pulsions by Xavier Curnillion and Saigner Toaster by Guillaume Marin-Lafond offer new gazes on Québec contemporary dance.

Two young emerging women artists – to watch closely – illustrate themselves with strong works. Charlotte Clermont works with VHS and analog video in How Flowers Never Became a Food Group, in collaboration with the composer Alain Lefebvre for the sound track. And Scopique by Alexa-Jeanne Dubé which uses a drone to bring a reflection on sexuality.

Guillaume Vallée and Frédéric Moffet were inspired by the History of Cinema itself by revisiting Laus Kinski, with Kinski wanted Herzog to direct but he turned it down, and Pier Paolo Pasolini with Fever Freaks.

Louise Bourque, Auto Portrait / Self Portrait Post Partum, Charles-André Coderre, Granular Film – Beirut, and Pierre-Luc Vaillancourt, HYPNAGOGIA, dig the vein of experimental cinema in three very personal works.

Finally, the spectators will have an opportunity to revisit Innu Nikamu – Resist and Sing by the young Innu filmmaker Kevin Bacon Hervieux. A feature documentary very well received at the latest Festival du nouveau Cinéma and the Festival de Sept-Îles. The documentary tells the tremendous story of the Innu Nikamu Native Music Festival through the eyes of its founders and musicians who rekindled the hope of a nation in distress, daring to believe that the challenge of reappropriating their culture and language was not impossible. A story of healing, a duty of remembrance.
