vidéo-club – Spotlight on Pierre Falardeau and Julien Poulin

PROGRAMMING

July 9, 2025 - 7 pm
Cinéma Moderne

$16

The video-club series is presented by Vidéographe, in collaboration with Cinéma Moderne.

Vidéographe invites cinephiles and curious minds alike to an evening of screenings and discussion celebrating the historic collaboration between two major Québécois artists, Pierre Falardeau and Julien Poulin.

As a tribute to Julien Poulin, this program highlights his behind-the-scenes contributions to the politically engaged films he created alongside Pierre Falardeau. As a close collaborator and co-creator of a body of uncompromising work, Poulin was responsible for sound and accompanied Falardeau on shoots that confronted them with political realities—realities that, through their lens, became sources of both outrage and awareness. These experiences would shape a visceral, body-centered cinema that remained a hallmark of their work.

The program was curated and will be introduced by Mathieu Li-Goyette, film critic, programmer, and editor-in-chief of Panorama-cinéma. The event will conclude with a discussion with the audience.

PROGRAM (1 hr)
Le Magra, Falardeau/Poulin, 29 min 27 s, 1975
À force de courage, Falardeau/Poulin, 29 min 11 s, 1977
