Internship opportunities at Vidéographe

If you are looking for an opportunity to make your mark in a thriving workplace and progressive artist-run centre, why not join our dynamic and motivated team?

Vidéographe offers unpaid, professional internships throughout the year. An internship at Vidéographe will give you the opportunity to gain experience, develop skills, learn about the day-to-day running of a cultural organization, and establish professional contacts.

Priority is given to internships that form part of a university course.

Please note that a good written level of French is required.

Intership in production

The Production Intern works under the direct supervision of  Éric Falardeau, the Head of Technical Support. This work experience will provide an opportunity to assist with the editing and dissemination of a number of the centre’s projects.

Key tasks:

  • Occasional assistance with editing of special projects by Vidéographe and external projects (video editing, creating a DVD);
  • Video editing for Vidéographe’s internal needs;
  • Provide technical assistance with production and during workshops;
  • Help to prepare editing suites and screening rooms for users and events as required;
  • Encode works distributed by Vidéographe in different formats according to the needs of the Distribution Department and web services;
  • Contribute to the life of the centre;
  • Digitize works in Vidéographe’s collection;
  • Work with artists to set up and take down video installations or screenings;

 

Profile:

  • Completed or currently pursuing a qualification in film studies/communication/media arts or other related field;
  • Basic knowledge of video editing and filming;
  • An interest in independent cinema, video-making, and the media arts;
  • Good organizational skills, able to work independently and use initiative.

This is an unpaid internship; the hours are flexible.

Internship in graphic design

The Visual Communications (Graphic Design) Assistant works with Audrey Brouxel the Communications Manager in publishing printed material and press kits, keeping Vidéographe’s website up-to-date, and creating visuals for different events.

He or she will also support the Conservator in keeping Vithèque, a distribution platform for independent video, up-to-date, and in integrating content (adding titles, news, creating visuals, etc.).

Key tasks:

  • Create visual material for Vidéographe’s activities;
  • Produce documents for internal use (annual report, documents for members, committees or funding bodies);
  • Assist in creating press kits: layout, creating imagery as needed, contacting artists;
  • Produce public newsletters with the Conservator

 

Profile:

  • Completed or currently pursuing a qualification in graphic design/communication or other related field;
  • Proficient with InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Open Office, Mailchimp and WordPress;
  • Knowledge of graphic production process up to printing stage;
  • Good organizational skills, able to work independently and use initiative.
  • Proficient in MAC and PC.

 

This is an unpaid internship; the hours are flexible.
