Assistance to Creation Program

Call for submissions

Types of project admissible

Assistance to Creation Program is intended to support artists interested in experimentation and in pushing the boundaries of the moving image in all its forms. We are looking to support independent works that stand apart for their currency and endeavour to renew the artistic language. Examples may include a crossing over of genres, techniques and technologies; reflections on the media, or on cinematic, videographic, or installation-based forms; research and exploration of new artistic forms in tune with the socio-political and technological issues of our time; the exploration of unconventional narrative or documentary forms, and practical research.

We will accept proposals for single-channel video, installation, Web-based work, and all other forms of moving image. Please note that all works must be independent and non-commercial. Projects of a conventional nature, such as classic short narrative film or television documentary, are not appropriate to our mandate or catalogue.

Program advantages

Successful applicants will receive 75% off member rates when booking the digital lab for their project. They will also be entitled to 5 hours of pre-booked technical support, depending on the nature of the project.

The Assistance to Creation Program can help you develop a new project, explore a new technique or continue an on-going project.

We strongly believe that diversity enriches our field and therefore encourage artists from all cultural backgrounds, of all abilities, and across all genres to apply.

It is not necessary to be a member of Vidéographe to apply; however, should your proposal be accepted, we will ask that you become a member. Once you have signed the agreement, you will have a full year to take advantage of the benefits that this program has to offer.

Once your project is finished, you can submit it to the acquisition committee for active distribution by Vidéographe. Please note that acceptance onto the Support for the Assistance to Creation Program does not guarantee that your work will be distributed, however.
