Established in 1971 in Montréal, Vidéographe is an artist-run center dedicated to the research and the distribution of moving image practices. This includes experimentation in video art, animation, digital arts, documentaries, essays, fiction, and dance videos. Our actions concern current works as much as historical ones, whose recognition and understanding we promote. Vidéographe holds a unique catalog of over 2,300 video works.

Vidéographe is looking for someone to take over the general management of this bustling center.

Vidéographe recognizes the richness of Quebec’s cultural, sexual, identity, and linguistic diversity. We encourage people from traditionally under-represented, minority or marginalized groups to apply.

 

Job Description

  • Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, directs and manages Vidéographe as a whole, overseeing short and long-term strategic planning and ensuring regular follow-up with the Board.
  • Obtain all funding required for Vidéographe’s operations from federal, provincial, municipal, and private sources, and ensure the production of all reports.
  • Manage Vidéographe’s administration and finances with occasional external support.
  • Develop, implement, and manage Vidéographe’s creative, dissemination, and distribution activities in collaboration with the Board, committees, members, and employees.
  • Supervise Vidéographe’s communications and publications.
  • Recruitment and human resources management.
  • Represent and promote Vidéographe to all media arts stakeholders and funders.
  • Nurture and develop local, national, and international partnerships.
  • Interest in museological issues, preservation, and conservation of a digital collection.
  • To organize and document all meetings necessary for the smooth running of Vidéographe, including meetings with the Board of Directors and the A.G.M.
  • Maintain and grow the Vidéographe community.
  • Follow-up on the property project.

 

Competencies required

  • Minimum 3 years experience in administration of cultural organizations (NPO), personnel management, project management, public relations, communications, fundraising and grant writing.
  • Knowledge of the visual and media arts and Quebec’s cultural milieu.
  • Understanding the creation, distribution, and dissemination of independent media works.
  • Knowledge of Internet and social media promotion.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors.
  • Ability to communicate and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to build dynamic relationships with our members.
  • Excellent writing skills in French.
  • Very good oral and written English.

 

Working conditions

  • Schedule: Full-time (flexible hours) 32 hours/week.
  • Salary: hourly wage of $30 to $35 depending on experience.
  • Start date: To be discussed.
