Vidéographe is an artist-run center dedicated to the research and distribution of experimental forms of the moving image. We distribute short, medium and feature-length films and video installations by independent artists from Quebec and abroad. Vidéographe is active in the commercial, educational, and institutional markets.

JOB SUMMARY
The Sales and Festivals Manager works closely with the Distribution team to ensure the rental, sale, and visibility of works in distribution in all markets.

 

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

DISTRIBUTION:

  • In collaboration with the team and artists, contribute to the development of distribution strategies.
  • Submit works to festivals and other relevant distribution events.
  • Manage and regularly update online submission platforms (e.g. Whitoutabox, Filmfreeway, Shortfilm depot, Festhome, etc.).
  • Ensure the dispatch and follow-up of the necessary promotional material and screening files either by internet (FTP, WeTransfer, Dropbox) or by mail to individuals or markets who have selected a work from the collection.
  • Support and develop the promotion and sale of works in various markets such as: television, museums, libraries, educational institutions, galleries, cinemas, VOD, etc.
  • Maintain a pleasant and ongoing communication with distribution artists.
  • Produce reports on submissions, broadcasts and sales for artists.
  • Ensure that trailers and works are posted online on the various viewing platforms.
  • Update internal tools (databases, tables, press kits) based on submissions, broadcasts, sales and other distribution-related activities
  • Ensure the transmission of circulation information to the Communications Manager.
  • Collaborate in the production of press kits, posters and other promotional material. Create DVD and Blu-ray trailers and covers, as required.
  • Provide general support to colleagues in their sector.
  • Participate in the writing of grant applications and reports related to their sector.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required by distribution.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in visual arts, media arts, film, art history, marketing or other relevant field.
  • Work experience in distribution or other relevant job. Experience in sales and marketing or knowledge of the art market is an important asset.
  • Knowledge of independent media arts in Quebec and Canada, and of national and international distribution of video and installation works.
  • Excellent computer and database skills. Mastery of image processing software (Final Cut Pro, Premiere, Photoshop), codecs and distribution platforms is an asset.
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Workplace: 4550 rue Garnier, Montreal, H2J 3S7

Schedule: 28 hours per week

Compensation: hourly wage of $21.01
