We are proud to announce Vidéographe’s presence at the 37th edition of Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, which will run from 22 February to 2 March 2019.


WORLD PREMIERES

Les fils by Manon Cousin is a historical documentary that tells the story of a group of blue-collar priests active in the factories around the Lachine Canal and in Pointe St Charles during the time of the Quiet Revolution.

Je marche (I Walk) by Aude Vuillemin is an original dance-video in which two dancers, one handicapped and the other not, connect and disconnect in a dance of resistance. With Maxime D. Pomerleau (Prends-moi (Take Me) by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette and André Turpin).

Éric et moi by Jonathan Lemieux is the semi-autobiographical story of the daily lives of a gay couple who reflect on notions of family and fatherhood.

 

QUEBEC PREMIERES
The Guests by Arshia Shakiba takes us to a Syrian refugee camp in Iraq where, despite their atrocious living conditions, its inhabitants prepare for a happy occasion.

 

REMINDERS
The RVQC will also offer the opportunity to watch or re-watch the extraordinary Exposition agricole by Jean-François Caissy and UNDER THE GAZE by Mireille Dansereau.

Experimental animation will be well represented, with The Statue of Robert E. Lee à Charlottesville and but one bird sang not by Pierre Hébert, Jim Zipper by Alexandre Roy and The Dead Sea Scrolls by Steven Woloshen.

Experimental works will include festival regulars such as il fait gris dans ta tête, tout à coup by Sarah Seené and Guillaume Vallée, Encore Pina (Still Pina) by Claudie Lévesque and Ma pipe (My Pipe) by Étienne de Massy. 514-835-9658, video poem of Charlotte Clermont and Julien Champagne, proposes a playful and psychedelic sensory experience. Finally, Helgi Piccinin’s documentary short, Belief Disbelief, will take us behind the scenes of the 2016 American election campaign.

 

INSTALLATION
Screens (Écrans) by Julien Champagne, a video installation that revisits the film landscapes of films by Gilles Carle, Gilles Groulx, Claude Jutra, Michel Brault and Pierre Perreault, will be presented in a three-channel version. Discover Screens (Écrans) at Espace Rendez-vous at the Cinémathèque québécoise, from February 21 to March 2, 2019.
